Game Boy Advance Family Setup Guide

Game Boy Advance (Original)

Power your Game Boy Advance with two AA batteries. The power indicator is green but turns red when batteries are low.

Insert a cartridge—Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance—while the system is off. It won't read a cartridge inserted after powering on.

If a game doesn’t load, clean the contacts with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Avoid blowing into the cartridge to prevent moisture damage.

This model lacks built-in lighting, so play in a well-lit area or use a light accessory (sold separately).

Game Boy Advance SP

The GBA SP features a rechargeable battery and built-in lighting. Charge it using the official AC adapter—the orange light means charging, and it turns off when full. The power light is green during normal use and turns red when low.

There are two screen variants:

  • AGS‑001: Front-lit screen that can be toggled on or off.
  • AGS‑101: Brighter back-lit screen with adjustable brightness.

Like the original, insert cartridges before powering on. It supports Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.
